Whilst working as a school secretary Barbara saw some pieces hand painted by a friend and decided to embark on a new hobby. Her talents were obvious from the start and so when her teacher retired in 1988 she encouraged Barbara to apply for the job and take her place. In 1988 Barbara was snapped up by the local college who encouraged her to gain her Teacher/Training qualification, which she achieved in 1990. Thereafter she ran china painting classes until 1996 when Adult Education changed so that all courses required an end exam. Hobby painters don't want exams!
Not to be deterred Barbara set up seminars and classes privately and carried on teaching until 1999 when her husband was made redundant. This allowed the pair to go off round the world for 3 months absorbing all the different countries and cultures they were longing to see.
On their return Barbara restarted her classes - which continue to present day. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning Barbara teaches her students then fires overnight ready for the next stage the following day. As Barbara says "I can't do with sitting around!"
If interested in workshops, seminars or demonstrations just give Barbara a call!
