After attending Stoke-on-Trent College of Art, Gordon Henry started his apprenticeship as a Ceramic Artist with the industrial pottery company, Royal Doulton.
In the early sixties he became a member of the Royal Doulton Art Society and in later years, the Secretary. In nineteen sixty-seven he was accepted into the Society of Staffordshire Artists and remained a member for several years.
He designed and produced his own pottery on a commercial basis, specialising in Character Figurines. As a modeller and painter, he was asked to represent Royal Doulton as a touring International Demonstrator, travelling mainly across America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and appeared on their national T.V. channels.
He has tutored many courses over the past forty one years working in Adult Education, covering a wide range of artistic pursuits that have included Oil and Watercolour painting, Mixed Media and Porcelain decoration.
His qualifications include The Further and Adult Teachers Certificate 7307 C&G (London Institute) and a Diploma in Adult Education (S.E.A.)
A past member of the B.P.C.A.A., and currently the American based I.P.A.T. and was a contributing director of the 'Ceramic Artist International' magazine; he is an active Charter Member of the Porcelain Painters International and was until 2005, course Tutor at Pendrell Hall College for over sixteen years.
Semi-retired, he still teaches both vocational and recreational courses and is a moderator for the Open College Network.
