When Jodi married her husband she immigrated to Canada (Timmis, Ontartio) where she lived for approximately six years where she worked as a Legal Secretary then as a Court Stenographer. Her husband's employers then sent them to Turkey for a further two years, after which they made the decision to return to England where they raised two girls, Ana and Tracy (both now in the medical profession). Jodi had always worked as a legal secretary/personal assistant so she found life in England boring, to say the least, and determined to be at home for her children, she looked for a satisfying hobby. Her father roped her into helping him with an art class which she thoroughly enjoyed.
As far as teaching, Jodi took her City and Guilds 7307 Further & Adult Teachers Cert in 1992 at the West Cheshire College. She had in fact been teaching both at home and at evening classes in a local secondary school for about two years prior to that, and has continued teaching ever since. Jodi now teaches from home as she found it too difficult carrying heavy boxes, materials, china etc. During this period she also took a NVQ 111 in IT which has considerably helped to make paperwork, designs and planning much more efficient. She also did a course at Burton Manor, in China Painting. The course was put together by Amy Ryder and several professional tutors came in from Stoke-on-Trent. Jodi learned to appreciate many aspects of china painting, and how to appreciate textures from nature, and the value of all the beautiful colours we have around us. Deep down she has a love for naturalistic painting, but also explores other techniques within china painting. It is therapeutic to have a change once in a while.
Besides china painting, I absolutely adore line dancing. We all need exercise after spending endless hours sitting down painting!!!
