Shirley started painting 23 years ago and it still excited by it today. As a full-time hairdresser there was little free time, but when one of her customers showed her a hand painted plate with roses she was captivated. After joining the China Painting course at Wetherby High School, Shirley used to finish with her customers at the salon, and then sit and paint until 2am.
Eventually China Painting took over her life!
Shirley is the owner and founder of Claremont Ceramics which sells white china and porcelain all over the United Kingdom. Influenced by anything and everything, she uses all styles and techniques to achieve her completed pieces which range from traditional fruit and landscapes to modern fantasy art.
As one of the committee who ran The Wetherby Club for 20 years, she organised the regional Wetherby Show. Shirley holds classes all over the country, and also does workshops, demonstrations and seminars.
